Charles McGHEE (New Zealand)

Professor Charles NJ McGhee, MBChB, BSc(Hons), PhD, FRCS, FRCOphth, FRANZCO, is the Maurice Paykel Foundation Professor and Chair of Ophthalmology, University of Auckland He is also the Director of the New Zealand National Eye Centre which brings together 120 scientists and clinicians from diverse ophthalmology, optometry and laboratory groups to form one of the largest vision research groups in the Asia-Pacific region. He has edited 3 textbooks, and published more than 250 reviewed scientific papers and chapters on aspects of anterior segment disease and corneal surgery with particular interests in corneal transplantation, ocular pharmacology and corneal imaging. He has also published widely on research and publication in ophthalmology and the scientometrics of eye journals and authors. He is recent past Editor in Chief of Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, the journal of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO), and is on the editorial board of three other journals. He has enjoyed a long association with the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology and has been Scientific Chair, or Co-Chair, of three APAO annual conferences.
