Fengju ZHANG (China)

Fengju Zhang, MD, PhD, professor and doctoral supervisor of Beijing Tongren hospital, Capital Medical University. She completed postdoctoral research in St:Erik’s Eye Hospital affiliated to Karolinska Institute in Sweden, sponsored by China Ministry of Education in 1999. She currently serves as the vice president of Chinese Society of Optometry, CMAO and CMDO, Committee member of Chinese Female Doctor Society of Optometry, and Beijing Society of ophthalmology. She is also a member of ASCRS , APJO, Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology, Chinese Journal of Medicine and Chinese Journal of Optometry and Visual Science.

Since she performed corneal refractive and cataract surgery in 1990s, she has devoted herself into ophthalmic practice, teaching, training, blindness prevention and academic research in China for over 26 years. Her current research programs supported by the General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Beijing Natural Science Foundation and Beijing Education Committee Foundation are focused on myopia prevention and treatment. Her honors include national education ministry achievements award, and several provincial scientific and technical progress awards. She was one of the academic leader of the “Beijing health system 215 Talents Project” in 2013.
