Jason YAM (Hong Kong)

Jason Yam, MBBS(HKU), MPH (HKU), FRCS(Edin), FCOphth (HK), FHKAM (Ophth), is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, and Associate Professor of Joint Shantou International Eye Centre of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Shantou University. He is the Academic Coordinator of the Pediatric Ophthalmology Service in the Hong Kong Eye Hospital.

Dr. Yam received overseas training in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Great Ormond Street Hospital, UK, and Strabismology with Prof. David Guyton at Johns Hopkins Hospital, USA. He also completed an international fellowship with Prof. Kenneth Wright in Los Angeles. Dr Yam serves as a Council Member in the Asia-Pacific Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology Society, and in the Hong Kong Ophthalmological Society. He is active in training and teaching, and is currently the Coordinator of Undergraduate Medical Teaching at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

He has more than 20 publications and has co-authored one book. He has delivered more than 40 presentations and invited lectures in international conferences. He also serves as an editor in the Hong Kong Journal of Ophthalmology, and reviewer of 10 international journals. He has received a number of awards, including Hong Kong Society of Community Medicine Prize, Dr Timothy Kai-Ching Liu Memorial Fund Award, Distinguished Young Fellow in HKAM 2013, APAO Yasuo Tano Travel Grant 2014, and the WOC Travel Grant 2014. He also undertakes the APAO Leadership Development Program.
