Nasir SAEED (Pakistan)

Prof. Nasir Saeed graduated from Khyber Medical College, Pakistan in 1981 and Fellowship College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan in 1990. He is currently serving as a Professor and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology of the Pakistan Institute of Community Ophthalmology. He is also President-Elect of the Pakistan Glaucoma Association and Provincial Coordinator for the National Program for Prevention and Control of Blindness in Pakistan.

He is an active and senior life member of the Ophthalmology Society of Pakistan (OSP) and has served both as General Secretary and President of the OSP for six years. He is Executive Vice President of the Association of University Teachers of Pakistan and a member of the Faculty of Ophthalmology of the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Pakistan. He is also a coordinator of the International Council of Ophthalmology.

Prof. Saeed is a dedicated and devoted teacher, teaching both undergraduates and postgraduates over the past 25 years. He has trained more than 50 fellows. He is also a keen researcher and has published 35 papers in various national and international journals. He is a co-author of Glaucoma National Guidelines and is on the Editorial Board of a number of journals. His basic research interests are ophthalmic education, glaucoma and community ophthalmology.

Prof. Saeed received the Meritorious Services Award in field of Ophthalmology in Pakistan in 2007, the Ramazan Ali Syed Gold medal Award in 2010 and the Distinguished Services Award from the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology in 2010. He is a graduate of the Leadership Development Program organized by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is also a graduate of the Leadership Development Program organized by the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology. Prof. Saeed is a leader in eye health recognized by the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness.
