Paisan RUAMVIBOONSUK (Thailand)

Dr. Paisan Ruamviboonsuk received his certificate of vitreous and retina diseases from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, in 1995. He currently holds the positions of chairman of the Department of Medical Policy Development and Strategic Planning and assistant hospital director at the Center of Medical Excellence, Rajavithi Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand. He is also a retinal specialist serving at the Center of Excellence for Vitreous and Retina Diseases in the same hospital.

Since 2012, Dr. Ruamviboonsuk has been the president of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists of Thailand and was president of the Thai Retina Society from 2009-2014. He is also a regional secretary of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO), a council member of the Asia-Pacific Vitreo-retina Society and the secretary general of ASEAN Ophthalmology Society.
Dr. Ruamviboonsuk received a United Nations Public Service Award for his project on the prevention of blindness from diabetic retinopathy in 2012. He also received an APAO Distinguished Service Award in 2007 and APAO Achievement Award in 2014. He currently serves as an active reviewer of 5 international peer-reviewed journals and has been an invited speaker at more than 30 international ophthalmology meetings.
