Shirley LIU (China)

Shirley Liu, PhD, received her doctorate degree 5 years after completing her undergraduate medical training and was a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong.

As a clinician-scientist, Dr. Liu's research interests are focused on the investigation and management of glaucoma, imaging of the retina, optic disc and anterior chamber angle. She is a reviewer of three international journals, including JAMA Ophthalmology, Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, and PLoS One. She has more than 30 publications and has co-authored one book.

Dr. Liu has received a number of local and international research awards including the International Travel Grant Award (2011) from The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), and the Hong Kong Vision Foundation Travel Grant Award (2010). She was a Runner-Up in the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Film Festival in 2008 and won the Best Presentation in the 2nd National Doctoral Forum in China in 2011.
