Soon-Phaik CHEE (Singapore)

Dr. Chee is a senior consultant and heads both the Cataract Subspecialty Service and Ocular Inflammation and Immunology Service at the Singapore National Eye Centre. She is also the director for fellowships and a member of the Strategic Planning Committee at SNEC. She is a professor at the National University of Singapore and Duke-National University of Singapore Graduate Medical School and lead member of the cataract research team at the Singapore Eye Research Institute. She graduated from the National University of Singapore, obtained her master's there and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow, Edinburgh and College of Ophthalmologists, UK. She did both her fellowships in uveitis and oculoplastics at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London .

She has published 200 peer-reviewed scientific papers and is a member of several editorial boards. She became an Asia Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Certified Educator in 2005 and received the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award in 2007. In 2011, she took on the position of Uveitis Chairman, International Council of Ophthalmology Residency Curriculum Update Project and is a member of the IOIS International Council. In 2013, she was appointed president of the Asia-Pacific Intraocular Inflammation Study Group.
