Tin AUNG (Singapore)

Tin Aung, Senior Consultant and Head, Glaucoma Service, Singapore National Eye Centre; Deputy Director, Singapore Eye Research Institute; Associate Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, National University of Singapore. A/Prof Aung is a clinician-scientist and leads the Glaucoma Research Group and the Ocular Genetics Group at the Singapore Eye Research Institute/SNEC. His main research interests are angle closure glaucoma and the molecular genetics of eye diseases.

He has more than 220 publications, has been an Invited Lecturer to >70 International Conferences and has received numerous awards including the Singapore NMRC Clinician Scientist Awards in 2005 and 2008, the Nakajima Award from the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology in 2006 and the Singapore President's Science Award in 2009.

A/Prof Aung has more than US$15 million in competitive research grant funding and has set up collaborations with many centres worldwide in the US, UK, India, China, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia and Japan. A/Prof Aung is a member of the Editorial Board of Ophthalmology, Eye, Journal of Glaucoma, and 6 other journals.
