Xiulan ZHANG (China)

Prof. Xiulan Zhang, MD, PhD, glaucoma specialist, is currently the director of the Clinical Research Center at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center (ZOC), Sun yet-sen University in Guangzhou, China. She is the outstanding PI of State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology in China and the fellow of the Academy of Asia-Pacific Professors of Ophthalmology (AAPPO). She serves as a council member of the Chinese Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, the secretary of the Chinese Glaucoma Society, the deputy secretary and Standing Committee member of the China International Exchange and Promotion Association for Medical and Healthcare’s Ophthalmological Academy, and the board member of the Asia Angle-Closure Glaucoma Club (AACGC). She was listed as one of the 100 most influential people in ophthalmology in 2014 and she received the Achievement Award of Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) in 2017. She is the Convener of the Glaucoma of APAO Congress 2018.

Prof. Zhang has received 23 scientific grants as PI and has published 190 articles in international and Chinese peer-reviewed journals, which contains 106 SCI articles. She serves as an editorial board member of more than 10 Ophthalmology journals and a reviewer for more than 10 peer-reviewed journals including Ophthalmology, IOVS, PLoS One, Br J Opthalmol, Acta Ophthalmologica, Molecular Vision and Journal of Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics. She has received a number of prestigious awards including the National Science and Technology Progress Award. Prof. Zhang has authored and published two books, including Illustrated Surgical Techniques and Pearls of Glaucoma (2016), Illustrated Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment of Glaucoma (2014), and other 7 book chapters. Both two books are the best seller and got highest award of the year in Ophthalmology of the People’s Medical Publishing House.
