Yong ZHONG (China)

Professor Zhong is a professional and academic clinical practicer in Ophthalmology specifically in Neuro-ophthalmology and cataract surgery. He is the director of department of Ophthalmology in Peking Union Medical College Hospital and the Vice-director of Ophthalmological Branch of Beijing Medical Association, the Vice-Chairman of Neuro-ophthalmology Group of the Chinese Ophthalmological Society, the Vice-director of Ophthalmological Branch of Chinese Society of Microcirculation and the Member of Ophthalmological Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association. He is also the Advisory & Editorial Board Member of the Asia-Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology (APJO), the Expert and Editor of the Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology and the Chinese Journal of Ocular Fundus Diseases. He is a member of American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS).

Professor Zhong is also dedicated researcher in the field of Neuro-Ophthalmology and Ocular Epidemiology. As a Principal Investigator, he conducted a series of research projects which are funded by The National Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Natural Science Foundation etc. In recognition of his outstanding contribution in Chinese Ophthalmological Society and prevention & management of ocular diseases, Dr. Zhong was honored to achieve the “Chinese Ophthalmological Society Award” (2017) by the Chinese Ophthalmological Society and the “Outstanding Chinese Ophthalmologist Award” (2017) by the Ophthalmological Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association. From 2015 to 2017, he is the leader of the national medical team of PUMC Hospital and received the “Ordinary Hero for Life” award (2017) from the National Health Planning Commission for the successful achievements of the national missions of the Chinese Brightness Eye Camp, respectively in Mauritania, Sri Lanka and Laos annually.
