Youxin CHEN (China)

As an ophthalmologist at Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Prof. Youxin Chen has done pioneering research on choroidal angiography in China. Photodynamic therapy and anti-VEGF therapy are also included in his area of expertise. Additionally, Prof. Chen has been actively engaged in clinical trials. The international multicenter clinical trials Brilliance Study, VIVID EAST Study and VEGF Trap-eye, in which Prof. Chen served as the principal investigator, achieved satisfactory outcomes. So far, Prof. Chen has published more than 50 articles in domestic and international journals, including Retina and IOVS. He also serves on the editorial board of many eye journals, such as the Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology and Chinese Journal of Ocular Fundus Diseases.

Currently, Prof. Chen has undertaken administrative responsibilities as the deputy director of the Department of Ophthalmology, Peking Union Medical College Hospital. He is also the general secretary of the ophthalmology branch of the Chinese Medical Association. For his efforts to promote the development of ophthalmology in China, Prof. Chen received the Distinguished Service Award from the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology in 2008.
